One of the most common questions I hear is simple: βWhat should I bring?β Whether you are new to saltwater fishing or have years of experience, preparation makes a big difference. For that reason, this Welcome page outlines what we provide and what you should bring to stay comfortable and ready to fish.
What We Provide vs. What to Bring

First of all, I supply all rods, reels, bait, and tackle. In addition, the boat carries all required U.S. Coast Guard safety equipment. You do not need to worry about specialized gear or complicated setups. Instead, you can focus on enjoying the experience.
Moreover, I provide guidance throughout the trip. I help with technique, net fish, and handle gear adjustments as needed. As a result, anglers of all skill levels feel confident and involved.
Required Items
However, there are a few items you must have while fishing with us. These essentials ensure we follow Washington regulations and keep you comfortable on the water:
- A valid Washington fishing license
- A catch record card for salmon (when required)
- Weather-appropriate layered clothing
- Drinking water for hydration
For example, if we fish Puget Sound for salmon, you will need a valid saltwater license and catch card. Conversely, freshwater trips require a freshwater license. Because regulations can change, I recommend confirming details before your charter.
What To Bring is a Fishing License – You can buy a one-day license at the boat for $12.
Recommended Items
Although not mandatory, these items greatly improve your day:
- Snacks or lunch
- Polarized sunglasses
- Hat and sunscreen
- Rain gear (no umbrellas)
- Camera or GoPro
- Cooler for transporting your catch
- Personal child-sized life vest if preferred
Additionally, soft-soled, non-marking shoes provide better traction and safety on deck.
A Few Important Rules
You may bring beer or wine in moderation. However, unsafe behavior or intoxication will end the trip immediately. Safety always comes first. Furthermore, federal regulations prohibit marijuana and illegal drugs on board.
Above all, bring a positive attitude. Fishing combines patience, timing, and excitement. Therefore, arriving ready to enjoy the process makes every trip better.
